If you are looking for a different way to explore Indonesia, this Flores Sunrise Trekking Tour takes you beyond the usual sightseeing routes and into the mountains, villages and natural landscapes of Flores.
Over 12 days, you will discover some of the island’s most memorable places, from the colorful volcanic lakes of Kelimutu and the dramatic summit of Mount Inerie to the traditional villages of Bena and Wae Rebo.
The journey begins in Maumere in eastern Flores, where you will experience local coastal life, traditional weaving, village culture and the beautiful underwater world around Pangabatang. From there, the route continues through the mountains and countryside of Flores, with stops at Riung’s 17 Islands Marine Park, Soa hot springs and the traditional villages of the Ngada people.
The main highlights are the early-morning treks. Wake before sunrise and climb to the Kelimutu viewpoint to watch the first light appear over its famous three volcanic lakes. A few days later, take on the more challenging Mount Inerie sunrise trek, climbing through the darkness to reach the summit as the sun rises over the mountains of Flores.
But this journey is not only about trekking. You will also walk through tropical forests to Wae Rebo, stay overnight in its traditional Mbaru Niang house, see the remarkable spider-web rice fields of Golo Cara, relax on Koka Beach and explore the marine paradise of Riung.
Traveling privately with an experienced local guide allows you to experience Flores at your own pace, with time to stop, explore and meet local people along the way.

Continue towards Denge and then to the starting point of the Wae Rebo trek.
The walk takes approximately 2.5 hours through tropical forest and mountain trails.
Wae Rebo's remote location has helped preserve its traditional architecture and community traditions.
